Default Guild Wars n00b questions

Hey all, thinking of getting Guild Wars next week, but I have a few questions on it:

1. Does Guild Wars feel more like an MMO or a RPG? I know it's a mixture of both, but like with World Of Warcraft, that's more of an MMO.

2. How big are the PvP areas?

3. After you've finished all of the quests, is there anything else to do? Is it like WoW where it's just as fun to hang around in the towns than to go out exploring?

4. Does it matter what order you install the different campaign packs?

5. I loved World Of Warcraft. Will I enjoy Guild Wars?

Thanks.

1. It's much more of a RPG than MMO.

2. Alliance Battles are the biggest (12 vs. 12)

3. There is plenty of places to hang out and have a interesting conversation (grotto all chat) and there's the missions, elite areas, and PvP.

4. Doesn't matter at all.

5. If you don't like a majority of the game being instance then you may not like Guild Wars. It's got the adventure feel to it though.

I would get a trial and try it out for yourself. That's the best way to know.

I would have to say more like an RPG, for example you don't get that frustrated MMO feeling of having someone kill whatever monster before you when you needed to kill it

2. How big are the PvP areas?

Biggest is AB at 12v12, but there is Random and Team Arenas at 4v4 and Guild vs Guild at 8v8.

3. After you've finished all of the quests, is there anything else to do? Is it like WoW where it's just as fun to hang around in the towns than to go out exploring?

There is a lot to do after finishing the story part. Elite areas like Fissure of Woe, Underworld, and Domain of Anguish, and of course tons of farming spots. People in guilds and towns are *usually* friendly.

4. Does it matter what order you install the different campaign packs?

No, not at all.

5. I loved World Of Warcraft. Will I enjoy Guild Wars?

I think they are very different games. Even in you don't find you like it at first because of the difference, give it a couple of days/weeks, and you'll start to like it.

Hope that helps mate, good luck in future.

i agree with everything said so far, but in order to play Eye Of The North, you need to have one of the other 3 campaigns (prophecies, factions, nightfall). hope you get it, its an amazing game :-)

Thanks.
I also played WoW and loved it......in fact it was part of my life ;-)
But.....Guildwars is a very different game....imho better....
My first impression with guildwars (Nightfall) was that in WoW you get things on a platter but in Guildwars things are a bit harder/better.
Now I am happy I left WoW to play Guildwars, there is so much to do and the world is so big (only have Factions to add to my account).
Guildwars is an old game and "old school" players are starting to get bored with the game but for new players it has a lot to offer. If you like it or not is very personal, me and my wife like it a lot but whatever other players tell you, you will have to play the game to find out if you like it.........
Anyways, whatever you decide....have fun ;-)
